My opinion:
On What Grounds is the first book in the Coffeehouse Mystery series, one of my all-time favourite cozy mysteries out there.

Claire Cozy, manager of her ex-mother-in-law’s New York City’s Village Blend coffee shop, is just moving all her things from her former Jersey home to the apartment over the coffee house when she discovers the body of one of her employee, Anabelle, unconscious and in pretty bad condition on the back stairs of the Blend. Sine there are no signs for forced entry the police does believe it was an accident but Claire is not that sure.

Together with her ex-husband and the Blend’s coffee-buyer Matteo, she starts investigating in Anabelle’s life and discover some pretty sketchy things.

On What Grouds is a phenomenal start to a wonderful and thrilling series full of lovely characters and Madame, the meddling Village Blend owner and Matteo’s mother, who is the heart of the Blend and the story.

Each book not only includes a murder mystery but also coffee- and pastry-recipes, so that you can get baking after finishing the thrilling story.

  1. I hadn't realized cozy mysteries was a genre until a few days ago, but this one looks interesting. I love how all the titles are centered around coffee.
